Warehouse - Core
Our 20,000 sqaure foot warehouse is never still as raw and cut-to-size core of MDF, particleboard, lumber core, veneer and more arrives on a daily basis and is staged for production. Sliced veneer logs of maple, cherry, oak and other more exotic species are stacked awaiting their turn through the face department as well as a variety of paper and phenolic backing materials. Units of ripped lumber in several sizes and species are stocked to fill our lumber banded panel needs.
Our 17,000 square foot face department uses a variety of clippers, guillotines, glue clamps and splicers to process sliced veneer logs into panel faces. Equipment from Hymenn, Ruckle, Diehl and Capitol assures a high quality product. The faces are graded, assembled, sized, taped and inspected then staged with their respective panel backs ready to be pressed on a per-order basis.
Internal or external lumber banded panels are produced with machines from L & L, Rosenquist, Timesavers Selco and Nichols. Banded panels of nearly any shape, size and species are produced including curved shapes and mitred corner panels.
A trio of Wemhoner presses fed by Black Brothers and Hymenn glue spreaders are the heartbeat of the plant. This is where the pieces all come together. Faces and backs are married with their prepared cores and after a layer of glue, high heat and high pressure they become the raw plywood panels that feed the rest of the plant. Our press crews can produce 15,000 to 35,000 square feet of panels per shift ranging from the smallest drawer fronts to the largest 5' x 12' executive conference tops in any thickness or quantity as dictated by the customer.
Panel trimming after pressing is usually carried out by one of our double-end tenoners. Our Torweggee and Celaschi 90 degree two-pass double-ends and our Greenlee 845 make up the backbone of our cutting operations. Other table and panel saws take care of split runs and specials. A wide variety of edge detailing can be accomplished from simple rabbets to custom jump lock mitres.
A pair of Thermwood routers take care of business in our CNC department. A 5' x 12' and a twin 5' x 10' make all of our fancy shaped tops and intricately detailed components. If a shape can be drawn on paper, these machines can cut it out of wood. A pair of table saws, a shaper and other homemade machines for clipping, notching, drilling, etc. round out the rest of the machining capabilities of our machining department.
Four veneer banders from Brandt and SCMI band the edges of our panels to customer specs. Bands are cut from the same veneers as the faces are trimmed and sanded to customer specs. These machines are also capable of applying PVC bands and light lumber bands.

Two state of the art Heesemann Sanders fulfill the duties of our sanding department. Both machines utilize forward and reverse rotation wide-belts along with cross sanding heads vacuum beds and fully electronic pressure beams for incredible "ready-to-finish" results. Panels up to 5' wide are no problem for these top of the line machines.

Every finished panel comes through the door in the mill department into the hands of our QC departmnet for a thorough inspection of size, shape, profile, detail, species, quantity and finish per customer specifications. Approved panels are sent off to shipping to be packaged for shipment. The docks here are kept busy receiving all raw materials then shipping up to 35,000 square feet of product daily. A dizzying inventory of raw panels pass through these doors every day. Here, all waste is monitored and the recyclable material is processed through our waste grinder. All dust from our two massive Torit-Day cyclone-filters is also monitored here and recycled.

Corporate offices are located on sight adjacent to the manufacturing facility. All Ply-Tech's administrative, sales and engineering functions are performed here. Meeting facilities are also housed inside. Ply-Tech is located within 2 1/2 miles of Glasgow Airport, 1/2 hour from Bowling Green, or two hours from either Nashville, TN or Louisville, KY.
